God Can Help You Get a Promotion At Work

Many people want to excel at work. Once you land a nice job, you may want to get a promotion so you can make more money for yourself and your family. 

Sometimes, getting a promotion can be harder than it seems. There may be someone else who gets a job that you really wanted. Promotion opportunities at your work may also be far and few between. 

So, how do you make more money?

Start by putting your faith in God and the love of Jesus Christ. God can help you get a promotion at work.

If you’re not a religious person, you may be tempted to close this page and ignore this advice and think it’s stupid, but we urge you not to. There are some facts to consider. Here’s one of them:

God has never let you down

You may think that’s wrong, but think about it. 

When have you ever slept without a roof over your head? Most of us live in a house of some kind. Even homeless people have a tent or other covering to protect them from the elements. In fact, the bible hints that God may love homeless people more than we realize.

When is the last time you went an entire day without a meal? You may not have had a five-course meal. You may not have eaten more than a snack during the day. But have you ever gone hungry for days or weeks at a time? Probably not. 

God doesn’t want you to suffer. He loves you, and he wants you to be okay. He even loves people that don’t believe in him because he is our Heavenly Father.

So, that means that he also wants you to pay your bills and be happy. Some people don’t want a promotion. Some people are happy working entry-level jobs. They don’t have a lot of responsibility and they like it that way. If that’s you, then that’s fine. God will provide for you.

However, many people want more out of their personal and professional lives. They want to make a bit more money so they can buy food, pay rent, and support their families. If you want a promotion and God thinks this move is right for you, he will help.

God already knows you want that job

You may not realize it, but God knows everything that will happen in your life. He knew it before you were born. So, if he knows that you want and deserve a promotion, he will make it happen. It can also help to pray for the promotion so you can show God that you care and that you recognize that he’s in charge. 

Have faith in God that he will provide, you will get it.

But make sure that it’s right

Now, just because you want a promotion, it doesn’t mean you’ll get it. If you don’t, there’s a reason for it that you likely don’t see. There are many reasons God may not allow a promotion:

• You could be overworked and get sick in the new position.
• You could work so much that you lose your family.
• God could have a different and better promotion planned for you.
• God may have a new job ready for you outside of this company that is better overall.
• The promotion could lead to a life of sin (theft, lying, etc)
• Someone else may get that position, and you may get a different position that’s better for you.

They say that “everything happens for a reason.” That’s not really true. God is in control. However, everything he does is for a reason. 

If you didn’t get the promotion you thought you wanted, you may just have to wait a bit longer.

God has taught you the lessons for how to succeed

Another way that God can help you get a promotion at work is to learn more about him and the lessons he has provided. Read the bible, go to a good bible-believing church, and learn more about God, and you’ll learn all of the lessons you need to have a great work ethic and get that promotion. 

Start by following the commandments and lessons of the Bible: 

• Don’t steal at work and you’ll never have to worry about getting fired or having a bad mark on your record. 
• Don’t take the Lord’s name in vain or use obscene language at work, and you’ll be seen as professional. 
• Don’t lie or gossip about coworkers, as that will also look bad when it comes time for a promotion. 

There are also many lessons in the bible about how we should work hard. In 1st Corinthians, it says to “work with all of your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Pretend that Jesus Christ was your boss. You probably wouldn’t want to let him down. Work that hard and your managers will notice.

In Proverbs 10, it tells us that being lazy can lead to poverty and working hard makes us rich. It makes us rich with money but also with character, which many managers value more than anything else. 

In Colossians 3:22, it says to work hard for your owners (management) as you would for the Lord.

The point is that if you are a great employee who has a good work ethic, you will get the promotion that you deserve. Remember to follow these common sense practices:

• Show up to work on time.
• Be friendly.
• Complete your assignments on time.
• Don’t gossip at work.
• Don’t bad mouth your company to customers or clients.

Use common sense, logic, and your conscience (Holy Spirit) when making decisions at work, and your management will appreciate you and want you to grow with the company.

You can talk directly to God

God often answers prayers, even for people that don’t believe in him. However, you can solidify your relationship by accepting Jesus Christ as your savior and being born again. Then, you’ll be part of the family. You’ll have God as your Heavenly Father.

Just like a real dad who cares for his kids, you can speak to God through prayer, and he will listen. This is the time to ask God for his guidance. If you want a certain promotion, talk to him about it. Don’t just say, “Can I have it, please?” Tell him that you need it and why. During your prayer time, you may get some answers back. The Holy Spirit will talk to you.

Don’t just pray once and hope for the best. Pray daily and more than once per day when you can. Whether it’s just for your promotion or for anything you need in life. Praying also provides a nice chance to thank God for the many things he has done. Your family, food on the table, money in your pocket, and more. God can help you get a promotion at work. Just have faith.

Accept Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and Savior. Whether we like it or not, we are all sinners, but Jesus paid the ultimate price so we can be forgiven and go to heaven after we die. By accepting Jesus and accepting that he died on the cross and that his blood covers our sins, we can be forgiven and finally be truly happy. We can forget about the stress and anxiety of this world and look forward to a wonderful life in heaven. 

All you have to do is pray, ask for Jesus to be your savior, and ask for forgiveness of your sins. If you really mean it, you can be born-again. You won’t be so obsessed with the bad things in this world and you can be truly happy.
