If you routinely go to church or pay attention to social media, you’ll often hear pastors and other experts talk about how there needs to be a revival in our country if we hope to save it.
The fact is that, as of the writing of this in 2024, the country is not in a good place. Politics have divided us and has led to hateful speech and violence. People are sinning on a regular basis. Folks believe it’s okay to steal, commit adultery, drink excessively, take drugs, curse their friends and family, and more.
No, this is not the worst time that our country has ever seen, but it’s not a great time either. We need to bring God back into the picture. Our country used to believe in God, and things were seemingly better than they are today. Yes, there was still sin, violence, and anger, but things seemed to have gone off the deep end.
I believe there are many reasons that prove that believing in God will help America. Here are some statistics and considerations to keep in mind.
Things were better in the past
Up until a few decades ago, religion was a major part of life in America. The people who founded America loved God very much, which is why he’s written into our Constitution. As a result, our nation grew and thrived. We were truly blessed, and we still are today.
While the economy doesn’t always seem great, our country has more money than many other places on earth. Plus, we have freedom of speech and freedom to do more than a lot of other countries.
Still, many people would argue that life was better in the past, at least when it comes to violence and crime. Yes, we’ve always had dark moments in our history, but things have gotten worse over time.
According to Disaster Center, crime rates in multiple metrics, including murder, rape, and robbery have increased drastically since just 1960. Yes, there are more people today then there were back then, but that’s just part of the equation.
More people used to believe in God and go to church back in the day than they do today. Because of that, they learned how to be decent and good. Plus, people abided by the commandments. Fewer people committed murder, robbery, and they were afraid of an afterlife in Hell.
Back in the day, religion was also taught in schools, and the Bible was read during classes. That meant that they learned how to be good people as children, and they carried those lessons with them into adulthood. Ever realize that you rarely see senior citizens committing violent crimes? Those positive lessons have been lost on the newer generations.
God wants to be happy with his created earth
God created all of us. He loves all of us, even those that don’t believe in him or claim not to believe in him. That’s why you’ll rarely, if ever, go more than 24 hours without some kind of meal, and you’ll never lack shelter or any of the essentials necessary to live. God will always take care of you no matter what.
It’s only right that we return the favor.
By praising God and believing that his Son, Jesus Christ died for our sins, we can become God’s children. He can become our heavenly father.
If everyone showed appreciation for what God did and returned the love, God would likely want to bless us all and bless our nation. That’s why you hear people talking about a revival. It’s necessary that we turn back to God.
There’s a reason that our country is a super power in the world. There’s a reason why we have freedom of speech here that isn’t available in any other country. And, there’s a reason why we have a country set up in such a way that we can vote for our leaders. Many countries have a dictator and it’s not good. The people starve, and they’ve lost all hope.
We don’t have those problems in America because, for a long time, most people believed in God, loved him, and followed his commandments. So, God blessed our nation like no other.
We have to get back to that point. Believing in God will help America. However, getting there is easier said than done. We must turn the corner as a nation.
It’s proven in the bible
I know that believing in God will help America because it’s proven in the Bible. God makes it very clear in several parts of the Bible that he will bless those who praise and obey him more than those who don’t. He will always help non-believers, but they may have some hard times.
One instance where this is proven is in 2nd Chronicles 7:12-16.
King Solomon was in charge then. He was very wise. One day, God made it very clear about his intentions.
The bad:
God said that at times he might shut up the heavens so that it doesn’t rain. That would be bad for the crops and food and many people could go hungry as a result.
He goes on to say that if too many people turn from him, God may also send plagues among the people. COVID-19 comes to mind.
The good:
However, God wasn’t done.
He then went on to say that when we, as a nation, will humble ourselves, turn to God and pray, and turn from our wicked ways, he will hear us from heaven and, forgive our sins and make things right again.
That means we should praise God again and realize all of the great things he does for us every minute of the day. Many people don’t believe in God at all, and that’s not helping matters. If we read the bible at school and at home and spoke about God all the time and praised him, things in America could change. He also says he would answer our prayers.
We also need to turn from our wicked ways. That means stop calling names, stop sexual depravity, stop breaking the law, and stop saying the “G-D” word and otherwise using God’s name in vain.
Most of all, we need to stop idolizing things other than God. That doesn’t only mean that we shouldn’t idolize the devil or other false Gods. It means not idolizing money. We shouldn’t be so focused on how much we earn or how much money we want to have. We should have our eyes on God and on heaven. Not on what we have on earth.
If we put more focus on God, then he would probably bless America even more than he does today.

How we can bring God back into America
Yes, believing in God will help America, but we have to get to that point. There are many ways that we can bring God back into the equation in our country so that we can find happiness again:
Teach Bible in schools
For some reason, whenever a preacher or politician mentions the idea of bringing the Bible back into classrooms or the idea of requiring that the Bible is taught to young children, many people get very upset. Why is that?
If we required that parts of the Bible were read during early childhood education, it would likely change many lives. The problem today is that many people don’t know anything about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, or religion in general because their parents never taught them.
Babies and young children don’t go to Hell, but as they get older, if they don’t know the truth about Jesus Christ, they are doomed to spend eternity in Hell. In order to go to Heaven, a person must believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins. Then, they need to have the Holy Spirit teach them how to live a good life.
Someone who truly believes in God and is Born Again won’t want to say curse words. They won’t want to say God’s name in vain in any way. They won’t want to steal or hurt others, or drink excessively or do drugs.
Basically, they’ll feel a change inside where they’ll want to be a good person. They’ll want to pray and talk to God throughout the day. Then, they’ll feel compelled to share the message of God and Jesus with everyone they meet.
It will create a chain reaction, and then more people will believe in God. Because of it, the world will be a safer and happier place. God will love that we praise him, and he will bless America.
Make it a habit to thank God for what he does
You have likely been to a restaurant and seen a family close their eyes, hold hands, and pray before their meal. They’re thanking God for the food.
We all need to thank God for what he does more often. This should be a normal thing for everything we get from God. It should be such a normal occurrence to pray before we eat that it would look strange when you saw a family who didn’t.
You don’t need to pray every waking moment, but we should thank God whenever you are blessed. That means, pray when you:
- Get food on our plates
- Get a paycheck from work
- Get a promotion
- When a friend or family member heals from a sickness
- Make a new friend
- When you heal from a sickness
- When you’re able to pay rent or the mortgage
- When you avoid car crashes
- When your kids get home safely from school
- When anything else good happens in your life
God controls everything in your life. He helps you to stay safe and to pay the bills and to find a loving spouse and to stay healthy and have food to eat.
If we all thanked God for everything he did, he would likely smile upon us because we would appreciate what our Creator does for us everyday.
This may be hard to grasp at first, but we should also be thankful when bad things happen. Often, bad things happen so we can learn a lesson that we can use in the future. If you’re truly Born Again, you can understand that even if the worst thing imaginable happens to happen in your life, God will still be there for you in the end and that you will eventually go to heaven for eternity.
Even if you lose everything, at least you won’t need to spend eternity in Hell. If we all thanked God for everything, then our country would succeed and be a better place.
Conclusion
The point is that believing in God will help America because our Heavenly Father will bless us for our obedience. God has been taken out of the equation in our country. Because of it, crime, anger, and sin have run rampant. In order to teach us a lesson, God may allow some tough times.
It doesn’t have to stay that way. By having a revival in our country, following the commandments, and showing God our love and appreciation, we can turn this country around, and everyone will benefit.

Accept Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and Savior. Whether we like it or not, we are all sinners, but Jesus paid the ultimate price so we can be forgiven and go to heaven after we die. By accepting Jesus and accepting that he died on the cross and that his blood covers our sins, we can be forgiven and finally be truly happy. We can forget about the stress and anxiety of this world and look forward to a wonderful life in heaven.
All you have to do is pray, ask for Jesus to be your savior, and ask for forgiveness of your sins. If you really mean it, you can be born-again. You won’t be so obsessed with the bad things in this world and you can be truly happy.
