God Can Relieve Stress During Taxes

5–7 minutes

With a new year comes another chance to pay your taxes. It can be a stressful time, especially if you have a large family, multiple jobs, or numerous accounts. However, you don’t have to let the stress get to you. Christians know that God controls everything, so he’ll make sure you’re okay. Better yet, God can relieve stress during taxes.

Even if you don’t know much about God, know that he is your Heavenly Father and that he cares about you. We’ll tell you you can get through the stress of taxes with God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit on your side.

What Does God Think About Taxes?

He thinks you should pay them.

Some people think that taxes are a bad thing. After all, we see all of our taxes taken away, but we don’t always see where that money goes. The roads still have potholes, schools are not what they should be, and many things stay the same year after year.

However, God wants you to follow the law of the land. Remember that God and Jesus Christ are one and the same. In the bible, one of the disciples asked Jesus Christ if they really needed to pay taxes since many of the taxes back then went to evil things. At the time, Cesar was the ruler of the land, and his image was reflected in the currency.

In Matthew 22:17-21, Jesus responds to the disciple, saying “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.”

Basically, he is saying that since paying taxes is the law, the disciples should follow the law. Jesus was sinless, and he would not break the rules, and neither should we.

So what are we saying?

That you should feel good about paying your taxes. No, taxes are not always going where they should be, but God wants you to follow the law. When you do what you’re supposed to, God will bless you. He’ll take care of the wicked people who are using your money improperly.

How Can God Help You to Pay Taxes?

There are many ways that God can relieve stress during taxes. Keep these factors in mind and you may be less stressed when you’re going through the process.

God Can Help You to Pay Less Money In Taxes

Being a good Christian and follower of Jesus Christ can actually help you pay fewer taxes. How? By donating to the local church

Notice that in the response from Jesus above, he mentions that you should render “unto God the things that are God’s.” That means we should be giving the glory to God for the money we make. After all, God controls all things. If you are making enough money to get by, you can thank God. He gave you the skills you have and the job you found, so give him a portion when you go to church.

When you donate to the church, you’ll receive a form at the end of the year saying how much you gave. You can then list that amount on your Schedule A when you file your taxes. Those donations are tax-deductible, so you will likely pay less when you file.

God Can Provide Guidance

Again, God is your Heavenly Father. He wants you to succeed and to be happy. So, he will provide guidance through his word and the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. There are multiple sections of the bible that show that this is true:

John 16:13- “Howbiet when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

There is a lot to that quote from Jesus, but a big part of it is that, once you ask Jesus to be your personal savior and you’re born again, you will hear the guidance of the Holy Spirit cleaner than ever. The Holy Spirit is that voice in your head that tells you not to put that incorrect number or lie on your taxes because it could hurt you in the future. Listen to your inner voice and it makes filing taxes easier.

Psalm 119:105- “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

If you listen to the words of God and the Holy Spirit, he will always guide you on the right path, even when paying taxes. He wants what’s best for you. He will never let you make mistakes on purpose. That’s a key way for how God can relieve stress during taxes.

Psalm 32:8 – “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”

Again, God loves you, and he wants what’s best for you. If you pray, talk to God, and listen, you will get the guidance you need. Even if you cannot hear Him speak, you will have the wisdom you need when paying taxes.

Conclusion

So, how can God relieve stress during taxes? He can reassure you that you’re doing the right thing when you pay taxes. It may not be fun or feel particularly good to pay taxes, but you can know with 100% confidence that God will help and support you when you do.

When you’re confused, pray to God and you will get the guidance you need. Ask Jesus Christ to be your personal savior, and you will have an even closer connection with the Almighty. Try it, and make filing your taxes more manageable this year.
