How to Die and Go to Heaven in 2 Steps

8–11 minutes

Many people have questions about the afterlife. Even people who don’t believe in God or have much religion at all will often wonder what happens to us after we die. Well, there is only one answer to what happens when our hearts stop beating: we either go to Heaven or Hell. You don’t want to go to Hell. The good news is that there is an answer to the question of “how to die and go to heaven,” and you can do it in 2 steps.

In this simple article, we’ll tell you what Jesus says about what happens to everyone in the world once we die, regardless of which religion you have. It’s unbelievably simple to get to Heaven. The issue is that many people don’t take the steps. This guide will show you how.

You Don’t Want to Die Without Taking the Right Steps

If you really want to learn how to die and go to Heaven, then you absolutely must complete these two steps:

  1. Believe that Jesus Christ is your true savior and that he died and rose again.
  2. Repent for your sins.

If you don’t take both of those steps, you are guaranteed to go to Hell.

You don’t want to go to Hell

It’s not a party in hell. You’re not going to see family and friends. You’re not going to be able to “party” with people you hung out with when you were alive. If you see anyone else at all, it will be while both of you are in endless pain.

The Bible mentions Hell in many different ways. Here are just a few:

  • Matthew 13:50 – And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
  • Revelation 20:14 – And death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
  • Revelation 20:10 – And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Basically, God is telling you that Hell is a hot and burning place where you will always be on fire and in incredible pain. It’s a lake of fire where you’re stuck forever. You will never get a break. It will just be endless pain. You will be tormented day and night.

Here’s the bigger issue: When you die, you are either going to Heaven or Hell, and you’re going to either place forever. If you go to Heaven, you’ll have eternal life with God and it will be amazing.

However, if you go to Hell, it will be the same story. You could be there for thousands to millions of years. It is eternal life in a fiery hell where you experience pain 24 hours a day. There is no sleeping, no breaks, just constant torture forever. You’ll never stop burning.

That’s why Jesus says in the Bible (Mark 9:43-48) that it’s better that you are blind or that you’re missing limbs in your life today than to go to Hell after you die. If you have a problem with sin, like looking at pornography, stealing, gossiping, lying, murder, or anything else, you need to ask for forgiveness and change your life. It’s much better than having to face going to Hell.

Just Being a Good Person Won’t Get You to Heaven

Most people are going to go to Hell. That’s the sad truth. Few people truly believe that Jesus Christ is their savior. In fact, church attendance goes down every year. Most people live their lives uncertain of what will happen when they die but unwilling to do anything about it.

God knows that we are not perfect. We are born not being perfect, and we are all sinners. Even preachers, pastors, and priests are sinners. However, by believing that Jesus Christ died for our sins and asking forgiveness for the bad things we do, we can go to heaven.

Many people believe that by being “a good person” that they will go to Heaven. However, if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your savior then just doing good things will not save you. You will go to Hell.

According to God, even our kindest acts are like “filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6), so doing good works without Jesus means nothing.

You could be the nicest person in the world. You could give every dime you ever make to charity. You could solve the world’s hunger problem. You could do anything in the world and be considered the greatest person who ever lived. However, if you do it without Jesus Christ as your savior, you’re going to Hell.

How to Die and Go to Heaven

As we mentioned earlier, the question of how to die and go to heaven is simple. It comes down to two steps:

  1. Believe that Jesus Christ is your true savior and that he died and rose again.
  2. Repent for your sins.

Let’s break down these crucial steps in further detail.

Step 1: Believe that Jesus Christ is your true savior.

If you want to go to Heaven, then the most important step you need to take is to get down on your knees or pray in a quiet place and ask Jesus Christ to be your savior. You must really believe it. Just saying it to try to get out of Hell won’t work.

Along with believing that he is your savior, you must also believe that he was crucified, died on the cross, was buried, and rose again. He died on the cross for our sins. That’s why when we believe in him, we can go to Heaven.

If you really believe it then you will soon be “born again.” That means you will begin to shred your “old man” or “old woman.” That is the person who is obsessed with life on Earth. We are not supposed to love money, cars, belongings, houses, or anything on this planet. Owning them may be important for shelter and protecting yourself and your family, but nothing should be more important than Jesus Christ.

Step 2: Repent for Your Sins

The second step that will ensure that you go to Heaven is to ask for forgiveness and repent for your sins. That means that you pray, ask God to forgive the sins you have committed during your life and make the best effort possible to never do them again.

Once you ask Jesus Christ to be your savior and then ask God to forgive your sins, he will forgive them. They will be totally forgotten, and God will never bring them up again.

Now, this doesn’t mean that you’re going to be a perfect person going forward. As we mentioned, everyone in the world is a sinner and will always be a sinner. However, now that you have believed in Jesus and you know that he died for your sins, his “blood” will cover your sins so that you can die and go to Heaven.

What are Sins?

It’s important that you realize the many things that are considered to be a sins. The best way to know what is sinful is to read the Bible. Here is a link to many different versions of the Bible.

Some Bibles are easier to read than others. However, we recommend you start with a King James Version, so you can understand the true meaning of God’s words.

We know this is a long list. The chances are good that you’ve committed a few of these in the last week. It’s easy to swear and curse, say a small lie or gossip. In fact, these acts have been ingrained in our culture. Even after you accept Jesus Christ as your savior, it’s likely that you will slip up from time to time.

On top of getting to Heaven, if you try your best to avoid these sins and follow the teachings of Jesus, you will also be happier overall. By avoiding these bad behaviors, you’ll stay out of trouble and you’ll be able to sleep better at night.

With Jesus on your side, you can ask for forgiveness, be granted that forgiveness and still die and go to heaven. We hope you’ll take this advice to heart.
